When you sit down to start creating your course, you quickly realise that there are a lot of creative assets that you’ll also need to factor in time to create. For many, these assets cover a wide range of areas including graphics, images, quotes, marketing assets, social media assets and more.
If you don’t have a design background, it’s very easy to get lost and overwhelmed when it comes to creating these assets, and it is all too easy to throw in the towel and get someone else to do it. That’s all well and good if you don’t have the time, but learning to create your own creative assets for your courses allows you to make quick changes on the fly, or design new courses for publishing without relying on someone else.
Why creative assets for your business? They help enhance the story you are telling and help your brand stand out.
While there are plenty of tools out there to help you create the designs and graphics you need for your course, three tools stand out as some of the easiest and friendliest to learn and use.
Envato Market
One of the hardest things when creating graphics and the like for your course, is finding them. Stock photo websites tend to be expensive, and you often don’t want to use the same generic images from Google that other businesses are using. Envato is essentially a website that allows anyone to buy or sell digital products.
Envato offers three products that are great for businesses looking to create a range of graphics. Envato Elements has over 54 million assets between video templates, audio, graphic templates, fonts, photos and more, starting from $16.50/month USD.
If you don’t need regular access to templates, Envato Market has website templates, marketing templates, blogging templates and CMS templates from $2 USD each. This is a buy as you need option, rather than an on-going subscription fee.
Placeit is the third offering from Envato, and is good for those who need or want unlimited access to a huge range of templates for an affordable price. There aren’t too many places where you can access templates for mockups, design, videos and logos for under $15 USD/month.
It is easy to use and with so many creative assets available either on subscription or as a one off purchase, your course will look fantastic.
Canva
Canva has two options for those looking for graphics for their courses – free or pro. One of the best things about Canva is that it is so easy to use. It has been designed for those who simply aren’t graphic designers but still want great looking social media graphics, posters, documents, and visual content.
Don’t think you’ll be missing out if you decide to go the “Free Forever” plan – there’s over 250,000 templates, thousands of free images, and plenty of templates. Pro on the other hand is great for those who need plenty of options with over 75 million stock photos, videos, audio and graphics and over 420,000 templates.
Really simply, Canva is a drag and drop graphic design program that is easy to learn and simple to use, while still producing great images. You can produce almost all the creative assets you’ll need for your course from one simple online program.
WordSwag
Do you get great graphic ideas right at a time when you can’t sit down at a computer? Designed for iOS, WordSwag is an app that lets you add text to your photos in seconds. Whether you’re sitting on the bus, or an idea strikes you at 11pm, WordSwag contains plenty of features including the ability to create custom text layouts quickly, quotes and thoughts to use in your design and the ease of creating on the go.
With over 250,000 free images to use, WordSwag is a great way to create your own content, and you can even add your own logo to your images. For $5 as a one-off cost, WordSwag is certainly one of the more cost-effective graphics programs out there.
Having creative assets is important when designing your course. Not only can you bring your course to life with video and great images, but they will certainly help you market your course whether on social media, your website or any other way you choose.
